2 Websites to Read When You’re Sick of Browsing Social Media

If you’re like me, you’re probably addicted to your phone. Which is annoying in and of itself, but there’s nothing quite like sitting down for some good old fashioned social media cruisin’ only to realize there’s nothing good to read (side effects include boredom, listlessness, and the crushing realization that your friend’s baby really does look exactly the same in every picture).
I spend far more than my fair share of time reading social media drivel, but I ALSO spend a ridiculous amount of time reading other people’s drivel that I find entertaining on two sites that have stolen many hours and megabytes of phone data. Allow me to share with you.
CLIENTS FROM HELL
(https://clientsfromhell.net)
Clients From Hell is a schadenfreude source for freelancers, designers, anyone who works on commission, and anyone who has ever wanted to punch someone in the face over a paycheck.
Pros: Funny stories, sometimes you learn something new
Cons: Lots of ads for font packages. Annoying pop-up asking you to buy their physical book. Can dip too far into graphic design, programmer, and other freelancer-to-client jargon. SLOW AS BALLS to update. I usually wait 2-3 weeks before reading so I can have a solid 5 or 6 entries to go through.
NOT ALWAYS RIGHT
(https://notalwaysright.com)
Filling the other coveted slot as the Most Visited Webpage From My Piece of Crap iPhone, NAR (not to be confused with the National Rifle Association) is a wonderful slice of the internet that harbors the unbridled rage of retail workers. Told in playacting format with occasional stage directions, these bite sized customer service stories prove that the customer, indeed, is not always right.
Pros: Quick update speed (I read usually once a day while I’m eating breakfast and have two or three pages to get through). Easy to read format. Not a lot of ads.
Cons: Addicting as hell. (Is that a pro?) Buggy sometimes - most of the archived posts are broken and often don’t load when you hit “random.”
Weird Side Observation: There’s a random Brony who frequents the site and will comment on posts AS various characters from My Little Pony. Strangely entertaining, if somewhat concerning.
