Mantras To Get You Through A BATSH*T CRAZY TIME

I just had a very long thirty days. It was an exciting thirty days, but it was also batsh*t crazy. In this time, I started a new business, quit my job, trained my replacements, created an entire social media strategy for myself, gained 5 clients, lost my mind, and did a lot of panic-dancing. (It's not as fun as it sounds.)
During the last thirty days, I've had a few mantras running through my head, ranging from the wholesome to the...less than safe for work. But they got me through a royally crazy time, so here's hoping they do the same for you!
You can do this. Tried and tested, old-fashioned but reliable. This is what I whispered to myself when I ate dinner at 9pm and tried not to cry at the size of my to-do list.
There are only X more days until freedom. I was lucky to have a really fantastic light on the horizon -- officially starting my freelance business, and seeing a REALLY good concert with my friends. (Big Wild, if you care - he was completely amazing.) Counting down the days and marking them off in Sharpie on my wall calendar really helped drive the point home that the chaos was only temporary.
When in doubt, cheese fries. Thank you, Outback Steakhouse, for catering to my cheese fry and spicy ranch addictions. They were both very helpful in this trying time.
I love my dog. Usually said as a reminder moments after she ripped something to shreds. I get it, Pig, you've got anxiety, but I do too and you don't see me destroying anything! (I kid - I really do love my dog.)
Oo ee oo ah ah, ting tang eat that cardboard. I told you some of them were crazy, right? This is inspired by a ridiculous Tumblr post that I still think about on a regular basis, and giggle about when I'm feeling stressed out. (I can't find a link for it, but it was about intrusive thoughts being set to music and it's probably not that funny if I explain it to you.)
What would Kevin Parker do? This one isn't really a mantra, but more of a question I'm genuinely curious to know the answer to on a daily basis. If Kevin Parker (the guy behind Tame Impala) was suddenly faced with social media calendars due for eight different medical clients, would he be able to sit down and do the work? Would he know how? Would he try to get through it with very little preparation time? Or would he hide behind his beautiful, beautiful hair and write a song about search engine optimization? Either way, I'm for it.
I'll leave you with a real mantra that's worth it to keep in mind. What if everything works out? This one was suggested to me by a life coach (yes, a life coach), and I've found it's had a surprising impact on me. I have a habit of fixating on the bad, and the "what if," and the "oh my god" mountain. But sometimes I just have to stop and ask myself, "What if everything works out?" What happens if everything goes exactly the way I want it to? Things have a strange way of working out for the better, even and especially when I think they aren't going to, and sometimes I need to slap my own brain in the face and tell it to stop panicking -- things might just be okay.
